Founded in 1884, Bangor University has a long tradition of academic excellence and a strong focus on the student experience. Around 11,000 students currently study at the University, with 650 teaching staff based within twenty three Academic Schools.

The University’s recent investments in facilities and services include the Pontio Arts and Innovation centre, a multi-million pound development which includes teaching facilities a theatre, cinema, bar, cafes and an innovation space. As for the university itself, major investment has provided more student accommodation and it is expanding academically, too, with new courses introduced every year. The university counts Danny Boyle, the Oscar-winning director of Slumdog Millionaire, among its alumni.

Academic Requirements:
International Year Zero:
- If your school-leaving qualification means you do not qualify for direct entry to the undergraduate programmes then Bangor University considers you for entry into one of the International Year Zero programme. After successfully completing year zero at BUIC, you will progress onto a Bachelor degree program at Bangor University.
Undergraduate Courses:
- For entry into the first year of our 3 or 4-year undergraduate / Bachelor's degree programmes, Bangor University asks for a school leaving qualification which is equivalent to the British school leaving qualification, (A-levels / International Baccalaureate).
Postgraduate Courses:
- Entry into Bangor University's postgraduate Master's courses requires an undergraduate/bachelor degree of equivalent standard to the British undergraduate/bachelor degree with a minimum grade equivalent to British second-class honours.

UG: Like all first-year undergraduates at the University you will be guaranteed a place in University owned or managed accommodation for your first year of study provided you make an application when requested to do so and before the closing date (31 July).
PG: International postgraduate students who submit their accommodation application and achieve ‘unconditional’ status before 07 August will be guaranteed a room in University accommodation. The University will try their best to find accommodation for all other postgraduate applicants, but unfortunately this cannot be guaranteed.
