King's College London (informally King's or KCL) is a public research university located in London, United Kingdom.

King's has an outstanding reputation for world-class teaching and cutting-edge research. It is now the largest healthcare learning centre in Europe, incorporating three teaching hospitals and providing a home to more than 27,000 students (including nearly 10,500 postgraduates) from 150 countries .

English Language Requirements

  • To succeed on a degree courses successfully and fulfil student visa requirements (where applicable) students must have a good command of English and be able to apply this effectively in an academic environment.

  • International students are usually required to provide certified proof of competence in all 4 English language skills (speaking, listening, writing and reading) before starting their studies.

  • Applicants are not required to have met the university's English language requirements before applying: they are welcome to apply to King’s if they think they will be able to achieve the English language requirements in the summer before starting their course.

  • English language entry requirements for International Pre-master’s and Pre-sessional English courses IELTS –Overall  5.5  Reading  5.0    Writing 5.0    Listening 5.0    Speaking 5.0

UNDERGRADUATE REQUIREMENTS

The Indian High School Leaving Certificate (CBSE and ISC boards only) at the end of standard XII will generally be considered for direct entry onto undergraduate programmes with an overall average score of 80% or above.

However, please note that for highly competitive programmes an overall average score of 90% and above would put candidates at an advantage. In any specific subjects considered compulsory or preferable for entry to your chosen degree courses  usually requires at least 85% in that subject (see  online prospectus for details of any compulsory/preferred subjects). Please note that this is an approximate guide and that differences in the state boards is taken into consideration when reviewing applications.

King's International Foundation

Students with the High School certificate should consider applying for  International Foundation Programmes. For further information on the programme and entry requirements please see the programme page on  online prospectus.

For the majority of postgraduate taught courses, a 2:1 honours degree or international equivalent is required. Many postgraduate research degrees will also require a master’s degree or international equivalent for entry. For course-specific entry requirements please check your course online before you apply to ensure you meet the full entry requirements.

Accommodation for International Students

  • King’s students have access to accommodation in King's own halls of residence as well as University of London intercollegiate halls, which includes catered halls and self-catering flats.

  • All new undergraduates and international postgraduates are guaranteed a place in King's Residences if they meet the criteria outlined in the university's Accommodation Policy.

  • All of King’s Residences are located within zones 1 and 2 and take up to 50 minutes on public transport to all King’s College London campuses.

  • Applicants cannot request specific residences on their applications and the location of applicant’s course is not taken into account when places are being allocated, with the applicants allocated to any one of  11 residences.

  • If an applicant choses to decline an offer made under the accommodation guarantee they will no longer qualify to receive another offer under the accommodation guarantee.
