Course Modules | |
Year one: In the first year of study you will undertake six compulsory modules. Throughout these modules you will develop your understanding of key concepts and theories within the field of sport coaching. You’ll enhance your knowledge, understanding and practical application of these concepts and a variety of skills. You will also undertake modules to facilitate your transition into studying at a university level, understand the traditional Sport and Exercise Science disciplines as well as having opportunities to gain recognized vocational coaching and professional industry relevant qualifications. Year two: The second year modules help you create a deeper understanding of your practice and coaching related theories and concepts. Importantly the modules you’ll study in the second year are designed to help you understand your practice, your identity as a coach, the relational nature of coaching and how to negotiate the complex and dynamic field. There are additional modules that aim to foster greater interdisciplinary knowledge of sport development, ethics, sociology and sport and exercise concepts as well as the research process. There are further opportunities in the second year to gain vocational coaching and professional qualifications as well as the associated knowledge to develop entrepreneurial skills and attributes that are vital within the industries related to sport coaching. Importantly, the second year also integrates work based learning opportunities to ensure you gain experience within the industry. Year three: The final year of study enables you to use your knowledge for understanding that you gained in the second year to be in a position to generate knowledge for action. This means that you’ll be move beyond just understanding your environment, your practice and what you do to being able to critically reflect upon coaching related theories and concepts and identify ways to develop and improve as a coach. |
