Admission Requirements

The University of Sunderland has assessed this student's English language ability as being equivalent to at least level B2 of the CEFR in all four components (reading, writing, speaking and listening).

English Language Requirements

English language is one of the biggest requirements for the university, as the North East of England is majorly an English speaking part of the world. European countries use IELTS or International English Language Testing System to determine a candidate's speaking, reading, writing and hearing abilities.

Generally, the course requirements will be a minimum score of 6.0, with at least 5.5 or higher in each component: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Entry requirements

This course is designed to support career acceleration for suitably academically qualified applicants. In addition to relevant degrees and equivalent professional qualifications, we will accept all levels of practical work and work experience. This includes applications from candidates who have yet to graduate or have limited or no work experience post-degree who can display that they will benefit from a program of this type.

We also require three passes at GCSE grade C or above, which must include Mathematics and English Language, or an equivalent qualification. For example, you could have a minimum of Level 2 Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number. If you have studied for a new GCSE for which you will be awarded a numerical grade then you will need to achieve a grade 4 or above.

In addition to academic qualifications, you must also have a minimum level of English language skills.
